Have you ever thought about how a simple activity like baking bread could turn into a life-changing experience? Well, that’s precisely what happened to Mahomud Ali, an auto mechanic turned bread baker and founder of Midwest Bakery! His passion for baking all-natural Halal bread and hoagie rolls has made him a successful multi-venture entrepreneur and inspired those around him.
I had the pleasure of meeting Mahomud and his wife, Saido Jama, at a conference. At the conference, he shared his vision of making his nutritious bread available to people all over the Midwest. I tried his bread, which was unlike anything I had tasted. It reminded me of the fresh homemade bread my mother used to bake. I knew I could help them expand.
Our business mentoring relationship began in 2022, and I used my entrepreneurial leadership and marketing skills to help Mahomud expand his business. We started by increasing bread sales from 36 locals restaurants to larger grocers. Soon, we began delivering to Cub Foods and Kowalski’s Markets. We continue adding store locations, restaurants, and new grocers every month. Click here to learn more about our Halal breads and customers.
Mahomud’s dedication to the craft of bread-baking is genuinely inspirational. He follows the Muslim definition of Halal, which ensures that the bread-baking process and ingredients are permissible under Islamic law. His loaves of bread and hoagie rolls are free of pork products and alcohol, making them an excellent option for those who follow Kosher or plant-based lifestyles, too.
What I admire most about Mahomud is his commitment to evolving as a leader and his passion for baking bread and feeding people. Customers love his bread. It has become our go-to bread in our household. Mahomud believes everyone should have access to his nutritious Halal bread, and he’s constantly looking for ways to improve his products. The passion he shares for his craft inspires me and others to become bread enthusiasts.
Our mentoring relationship is a true collaboration; we work closely to solve problems and overcome challenges. It’s been a joy to see Mahomud and his family succeed, and I’m excited to see how far we can take this opportunity.
So, if you’re ever in the Midwest, try Midwest Bakery’s all-natural Halal bread and hoagie rolls. You won’t be disappointed! Or, if you live in the Midwest and your local grocer doesn’t carry Midwest Bakery Halal bread, please talk with the store director. You have influence.
